Philip Shemmings

I have lived in West Wickham for sixteen years, and during that time I've played an active role in local community: serving for five years as a governor at Pickhurst Junior Academy, and for 12 years as a volunteer with the local children's cycle club, Bigfoot Youth. I am married with two children.

For the last 9 years I have worked as a train driver, based in central London, and I see first hand the daily struggle faced by ordinary people trying to get to work. Prior to this I spent some 25 years working for housing associations, local government and the charity sector dealing with communications and public relations.

I'm particularly interested in the links between road safety, active travel and public health in the local area. I'm also keen to represent local residents' concerns about public transport, housing provision, and facilities for young people.
